TURKEY SEASON AND EASTER - For the many hunters that wet their pants when that hear a boss gobbler blow the woods down with a booming gobble, the long-awaited turkey season is upon us. Turkey season for many states usually falls somewhere between late March to early May. At Cherokee Run in South Carolina, our season is April 1 - May 1. We are fired up and ready to go! Many of the boar hunters at the lodge have seen flocks of over 20 birds in recent weeks. The gobblers are starting to make noise as the plants and trees too come to life. Driving through the Sandhills the other day, I saw a flock of 10 hens and 4 gobblers in a green field of winter wheat. The sight was glorious as 2 of the big toms were in full strut, showing off for the girls! What a beautiful and intelligent creature God has made. Avid turkey hunters have an addiction and obsession like that of a duck hunter. They may do some deer hunting, but they live to hunt birds!

Are you ready to hunt? Do you have your vest equipped with slate calls, diaphram call, and an owl hooter? How 'bout the latest and greatest guns, chokes, and turkey loads? How can we forget the leafy camo, gloves, and head net. I've got a hen decoy in my vest pouch, ready for action. Let's get it on baby! You know when Easter gets here, it's time to talk turkey. Likewise, when turkey season gets here, it's time to talk Easter! If hunting turkey means the world to you, how much more does Easter mean to you? Is it all about eggs, baskets, and marshmellow bunnies??? If you answered "Yes" to that question, read on... God created the world and all creatures for us to enjoy and even hunt. If it weren't for Him, there would be NO turkey or deer season. As a matter of fact, you and I wouldn't exist at all. Hunter to hunter, man to man, here's the deal...God created us in His image, to having a loving relationship with Him. Our sole purpose in life is to commit ourselves to Him. The sin in our lives, however, created a gap between us and God. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world (you and I), that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him, will not perish but have eternal life." It took the loving sacrifice of Jesus Christ on a cruel cross to bridge the gap created by our sin. We will celebrate His sacrifice on Good Friday this week! He arose from death on Easter to go to be with His Father. To live now and for eternity with God takes preparation and dedication. God offers all of us the FREE gift of salvation through His Son Jesus. All we have to do is accept it. What you do with God is a question that every man will have to answer and many of us have run from it long enough. How can you prepare for life on Earth and in Heaven? It is simple, just pray this prayer with every fiber of your being...God, I know that I am a sinner. I understand that I need you in my life. I believe that you died for me. Forgive me of my sins, come into my heart as Savior and Lord. Lead, guide, and direct me all the days of my life. If you prayed this pray my friend, you are now prepared for life and eternity in Heaven. One last thing, as evidence of your commitment to Jesus Christ, profess your decision to your family and friends. I would appreciate it if you would email me personally at tnaumann@eatsleephunt.com to celebrate with you. We are no longer just fellow hunters, we are brothers in Christ! God loves you and so do I!!! Written by Thomas E. Naumann of EATSLEEPHUNT.com Submit your real stories to us at...
